Our Story
Our story begins in Madrid, where we fell in love! Diego was studying architecture, Laura was studying political science....together, we dreamed of seeing the world!
1994
A wedding brought us to hanoi for the first time & we decided we would to return for a sabatical year!
2003
We finally moved to hanoi & instantly fell in love with vietnam, its people, culture.....and the wonderful markets! but Little did we know that what started as a year of adventure would turn into the beginning of something much bigger.
2004
Diego began designing clothes for me: classic in shape but with unique and humorous designs! Our friends loved them and wanted their very own!!
Our first daughter was born and we gave our business its name: CHULA! IN spanish "chulo" means something that is cool and confident!
2004
we wanted to be able to communicate with the tailors, to be fully part of the process, but we did not speek vietnamese yet....
By a twist of fate, we were introduced to _____, a hard of hearing and non-verbal communicator with excellent tailorship skills.... a perfect solution to our language barrier!
We continued growing our workshop, organizing fashion shows and selling in small boutiques around hanoi.
2006
We moved into our house in the west lake where we lived, created and sold our dresses.
