Every Chula piece is made by hand at the Hanoi atelier, printed, embroidered, painted, or stamped. That is what makes a piece worth keeping, and it is why it asks a little more of you in return.
BY CARE METHOD
In general
Storage
On a hanger, with room around it. Folded for long periods, the paint can crease along the fold and the crease will stay.
Drying
Never tumble dry. If a piece gets wet, hang it in shade and let it dry slowly. Direct sun will fade the colour faster than anything else.
Ironing
Cool iron, inside out, and never directly onto a painted or appliquéd area. Steam held at a distance is safer than contact.
Professional dry cleaning
To preserve the fabric, the colour, and the hand-finishing of these pieces, we recommend professional dry cleaning.
Silks, taffetas, and hand-appliquéd details are sensitive to water, friction, and handling. Dry cleaning is the most reliable way to keep the piece as it left the atelier.
Choose a cleaner experienced with hand-finished garments. Please also read the care label sewn into your piece. Individual garments sometimes carry additional instructions.

Gentle hand wash
To preserve the fabric, the colour, and the hand-finishing of these pieces, wash gently by hand in cold water with a mild detergent.
Take particular care around embroidered, printed, and hand-painted areas. Avoid rubbing, wringing, or twisting. Any of these can disturb the fabric or the work on it.
Afterwards, let the garment dry naturally. Line dry or dry flat, whichever suits its construction. Please also read the care label sewn into your piece.

Delicate machine wash
These pieces are made to live with you and to be washed at home. Use a cold, delicate cycle with a mild detergent.
Place the garment in a mesh laundry bag first. It reduces friction and protects the printed, stamped, or embroidered surface.
Afterwards, line dry or dry flat. Avoid bleaching, wringing, twisting, and tumble drying. Please also read the care label sewn into your piece.

Garmen Specific
These pieces are made from wool with taffeta silk detail, and their care depends on the specific construction. Please follow the care label sewn into your garment.
As a general rule, professional cleaning is the safest path. A cleaner familiar with wool and silk will treat both without disturbing the seams that hold them together.
If your label is missing or unclear, write to us. The tailors who made your piece are still in the workshop and can tell you what it will accept.
