Open Columns Dress

Oyster Linen Woodblock Press

Sale price$315.00
Size
Colorfuchsia

Two columns of hand-stamped geometry run down the front of this dress, separated by a panel of natural linen that opens with every step. Chevrons, diagonals, and stepped shapes are pressed onto the fabric with carved wooden blocks and traced by hand in fine embroidered stitches. Cut from linen in a fitted silhouette. Stamped, embroidered, and finished by hand at the Hanoi atelier.

Craft

The story

OPEN COLUMNS

Architecture in motion. Two columns stand parallel down the front of this dress, quiet and structural, holding their line from throat to hem. Between them, a strip of natural linen waits. When the wearer walks, it opens, and the two columns move independently of each other, like doors held slightly apart. When she stops, the linen closes, and the columns come back together as one shape. Every step is a small change in the architecture. Every pause is a return. Cut from linen that softens with wear, the dress falls in a fitted line from the shoulder and moves easily through warm days. The design shifts with every step, so the piece never quite looks the same twice.
