Size
A knee-length dress in bamboo taffeta, cut from white silk above and a hand-painted clapperboard skirt below, with a black-and-white striped sash tied at the waist. The words HOLLYWOOD, PRODUCTION, DIRECTOR, CAMERA, DATE, and SCENE are painted by hand on the black silk, each dress lettered individually at the Hanoi atelier. Sleeveless, high round neckline, A-line silhouette. Part of the Cinema Collection, designed by Laura Fontan Pardo for Vietnam Fashion Week 2025.

The story
TAKE 1, ACTION
Designed by Laura Fontan Pardo for the Cinema Collection at Vietnam Fashion Week 2025. The dress is the director's cue. If Countdown was the film about to begin, Projector the machine, Anaglyph the audience, and Spotlight the star finding her light, this is the moment just before every one of those things happens. A clapperboard is held in front of the camera. The stripes snap shut. Someone calls action, and the scene starts. Laura wanted to be a film director when she was young. On this dress, the clapperboard she never got to hold is worn instead. The words are painted by hand on the black silk, HOLLYWOOD, PRODUCTION, DIRECTOR, CAMERA, DATE, SCENE, each dress lettered slightly differently the way a real clapperboard is written and wiped for every take. The word she is finally saying is stitched invisibly into the whole thing.
