The story
LOTUS GARDEN
In Vietnamese culture, hoa sen, the lotus flower, is the country's most enduring symbol. It rises from muddy water into full bloom, unstained by what it grows in, and for centuries it has stood for purity, grace, and the quiet strength of endurance. It appears on temple altars, on ceremonial cloth, on the seals of dynasties long past. Diego drew it for this gown as a garden in full flower. The blooms open in sequence across the scarlet silk, some small and closed like buds waiting their turn, others fully spread, their petals reaching outward. He wanted the composition to feel less like a print and more like a moment held still, a pond at the height of summer with every flower open at once. Each bloom is hand-painted with a carved wooden block, then traced by hand in fine embroidered outlines that raise the petals slightly above the surface. Cut from a hand-woven silk from Da Nang, a region long known for its silk-making tradition, the gown falls in a fitted line from the shoulder to the floor. Designer Lê Huyền Trang
