Size
A floor-length asymmetrical gown in bamboo taffeta, cut from cream and black silk panels joined by hand. Two film reels drawn in black silk sit at the shoulder and hip, hand-embroidered around their outlines. Along the top and back of the bodice, the film-strip perforations and the number three continue the countdown from the opening piece of the collection. One-shoulder neckline, floor-length skirt, side slit. Part of the Cinema Collection, designed by Laura Fontan Pardo for Vietnam Fashion Week 2025.

The story
PROJECTOR
Designed by Laura Fontan Pardo for the Cinema Collection at Vietnam Fashion Week 2025. The dress is the projector. If Countdown was the moment before the film begins, this is the machine that makes the film possible. Two reels of celluloid, one high, one low, spinning against each other in a small dark room at the back of the theatre, throwing light through the images and onto the screen. Everyone watches the story. Almost no one watches the projector. Laura made it the second dress of the collection. The reels are drawn in black silk against cream, framed by hand with fine embroidery, and joined to a body of bamboo taffeta the way film itself is joined: panel to panel, splice by splice. On the back of the bodice, the number three continues the countdown from the opening piece of the collection. The film is still winding.
